Heather Beggs Varner,
Quaker Lake Program Director

Heather has a long history of involvement with North Carolina Yearly Meeting.  A former member of Quaker Lake’s summer staff and a long time camper herself, Heather knows first hand the impact Quaker Lake can have on an individual. 

A graduate of High Point University, Heather’s career journey led her from sales, marketing and management to this wonderful opportunity to live out a life long dream of giving back to something so instrumental in shaping her life. 

Her husband, Jeff Varner and son Jackson, share this enthusiasm and a love for the outdoors. 

Matt White,
Quaker Lake Facilities Manager

Matt has been active in North Carolina Yearly Meeting as a participant and chaperone in many Young Friends and Young Adult activities for a number of years.  He also worked on the Quaker Lake staff for the 2003 and 2004 summer camping sessions, where he has served as a cabin counselor and maintenance assistant.  In May of 2005 he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

In addition to the camp ministry and work, Matt enjoys outdoor activities (particularly cycling, backpacking, and paddle sports), spending time with friends and family, and being part of a growing Church community.
